SPELUNKER / Data East / NES
Damn, I didn't know this ancient PC/Macintosh game actually had an NES port.
This game is old school, like ancient dinosaur old school. You're this little Mario-esque guy exploring caves for treasure and stuff, and basically all you have to do is jump obstacles.
Yeah but the game is programmed so that you instantly die if you fall more than like 1/2 an inch.
So it's easy to make some leap that would be innocuous in any other game, but kills you off in this one.
You also often have to jump and grab onto ropes/chains, which is finicky and tends to get you killed unexpectedly.
Lose all your lives and you have to start alll over at the beginning again.
This one's just too old and frustrating ... platforming has really, really moved on from this.
